Q. What does PRSSA stand for?
A. PRSSA stands for the Public Relations Student Society of America.
Q. How do I become a member of Bobcat PRSSA?
A. In order to become a member, you must attend signing day in the Fall or Spring semester of the academic school year at Georgia College.
Q. Do I have to be a public relations major to join?
A. No, you do NOT have to be a public relations major to be a member of PRSSA. Although it consists majorly of public relations students, we have a variety of majors within our chapter. If you career goals involve any branch of the mass communication field, PRSSA is a great choice for you. The networking opportunities members are presented with are ideal for a variety of majors.
Q. How much does it cost to be a member?
A. It is $75 for new member registration and $65 for current member registration. You only pay once every year. For example, if you signed during the fall signing day, you will pay your member registration fee every fall. You do NOT pay your member registration fee every signing day.
Q. What does the money go towards?
A. The fees go towards paying our dues to the PRSSA National Committee and funding chapter meetings, National Conference attendance, National Assembly attendance, PR Real World and other events for members. In addition, PRSSA offers numerous scholarship opportunities and valuable resume material to all members. Essentially, you are paying to use PRSSA as a tool to further your educational, social and professional development.

A. Bobcat PRSSA holds a chapter meeting once a month in the Arts & Sciences building on the Georgia College campus. Meetings cover topics ranging from involvement in SpectrumPR, various panels, PRSSA and PRSA GA announcements, guest speakers and professional development workshops. Specific meeting time and dates are announced via the Bobcat PRSSA Facebook and Twitter (@BobcatPRSSA) pages, as well as over email.
Q. Besides monthly meetings, how can I get involved?
A. There are many ways to get involved within the Georgia College chapter of PRSSA. Firstly, you can join Executive Board Committees in special events, fundraising or recruitment. These committees allow members exposure into these positions, potentially setting them up to take over that position in the upcoming years. In addition, we offer a mentorship program for younger members to utilize the expertise and knowledge of older members. Our public relations firm, SpectrumPR is another a great way to get involved within the chapter and expand your public relations skills. Members are also encouraged to attend PRSSA events such as National Conference, PR Real World and National Assembly. Your PRSSA experience is just that, YOUR experience. If you have the desire to get involved, you will reap the benefits.
